A new LAPD program will send people arrested for misdemeanors and nonviolent felonies to community support programs instead of jail.
Does the term “police reform” deflate the “defund the police” argument? Are police reform advocates inherently against defunding? It seems like we can do both. It’s true there needs to be systematic reform of policing agencies in America and that departments’ bloated budgets can be used for other things, such as education, mental health, and early intervention. It’s true that some on the left want to abolish the police but more would argue there is still a need for policing. We stream our live show every day at 12 PM ET.We need your help to keep providing free videos! The number of people simply saying oink instead of actually listening was disheartening. Police reform does not and cannot stop at shuffling funds away from police departments. We have bad cops but we also have bad people making the rules that apply to all cops, good and bad. Yeah I mean I think like look there the theory I think goes that if you have you know any type of reform you’re necessarily letting the air out of the idea of defunding the police. And I’m not sure I buy that. Also, the idea that people everyone wants to defund the police like Eric Adams just won the primary in New York City and he’s a former cop. And he said he doesn’t want to defund the police.Sam: Well I mean I think that you can just look at the data. I think the idea that there that there’s broad support for structurally changing what the police do. I think that’s the case when you really walk when you walk through it. I don’t think that Eric Adams won because of that. But it obviously wasn’t enough of an issue with enough people to vote against him because of it.Nomiki Konst: I think Catherine Garcia did better because of it than Eric Adams did better because of it. Eric Adams put together a coalition. As someone who had name id, and like you know still wanted to reform he’s still a police officer a captain, and wanted to reform the police in his own way. So he was still leaning in on it but trustworthy to his base. But I think Catherine Garcia is the one that you know kind of tapped into like the white liberals, the nimbys, who were like, “yeah I don’t really want to get rid of the police because I still read the new york daily news every morning and see the covers of the post. And I think I’m a progressive but I’m actually really not I’m kind of a racist white mom.Sam: You know there there there has to be some at the very least like I mean I think that there is an argument that you need a very clear and sometimes like um as sort of you you need to form an activist perspective you need to approach the furthest reaches that you can for a goal. So that there is room for stuff to happen between where we are now and that goal. Right? Like so I’m a little bit more agnostic on the sort of the question of you know defund the police. Was that the most effective you know slogan or whatnot? Like it was the one that worked to the extent that things worked I mean it’s really easy after the fact to say like you should say something else. And because well it’s not like there wasn’t an opportunity for somebody to do that. Right like I mean this is what happened to the extent that we got some movement on this stuff it was it was around that. I think from a policy standpoint there are people who want to completely abolish the police. I don’t know that it’s really people who are even most inc who are living in communities most subjected to the type of policing that we don’t want. You know there’s polling from Detroit saying that like well we just want better policing no policing. Because we have crime here. but that’s also very hard to sort of disaggregate from all the social ills that are not being addressed in these communities. And maybe if these communities were had the investment from our government that they wouldn’t need it. My point is is that it’s far more nuanced.
Women are paying thousands for unvaccinated sperm? Where do we sign up. Tucker Carlson roasting a clueless liberal who lives in fantasy land about how the world really works, we’re not fans of Tucker but everyone gets something right some of the time. Woman exposes the hypocrisy in women logic…Sex workers/borderline prostitutes complaining why men only use them for their body. Washington State police reform headed in a terrible direction as a bunch of commons sense is thrown out the window. Thank the far left for all those who are going to face the consequences of these moronic policies, creating more victims, literally. Charlamagne “tha god” (narcissistic?) making some sense on the black communities troubles and the government all of a sudden acting like they care, namely on making sure everyone is vaccinated…

Rep. Cori Bush continued to call for defunding police departments while telling critics to “suck it up” that she has spent thousands of dollars on private security.”I’m going to make sure I have security. Because I know I have had attempts on my life, and I have too much work to do,” she told CBS on Wednesday. “There are too many people that need help right now for me to allow that. So, if I end up spending 200,000, if I spend ten more dollars on it, you know what, I get to be here to do the work. So, suck it up. And defunding the police has to happen. We need to defund the police and put that money into social safety nets. Because we’re trying to save lives.”Watch CBS’s full report: The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention issued a new temporary eviction moratorium in COVID-19 hotspots. The previous ban expired over the weekend, sparking major fears that millions of renters could lose their homes in the midst of a public health crisis. CBS News senior White House correspondent Weijia Jiang reports the new ban could face court challenges, and Democratic Congresswoman Cori Bush, who slept outside to protest the end of the first moratorium, joined CBSN to discuss the new ban and her stance on police reform.

Radical Progressive Democrats, including Alexandria Ocasio-Cortes, Ilhan Omar and Ayanna Pressley, supported “unrest” from BLM and have been pushing to ‘Defund the Police’ for a year while other Democrats remained silent. Last year, Kamala Harris said to “beware” that the violent BLM protests were not going to stop.
